What We Learned About Our Community

Today we heard from Judge Kathy Rodenberg who shared about CASA...Court Appointed Special Advocates. People are trained to advocate for the best interests of abused, neglected, and dependent children for as long as they are in the system. The CASA is generally the most stable, role model in a child’s life. They visit the child at least 1 time per month and devote about 5-10 hours to the child’s interests. CASA served about 250 children last year with about 50-60 advocates. There are generally around 500 children who need CASAs. Their budget is about $200k which comes from grants, fundraisers and community support. This is a great way to make a difference in a child’s life. If you are interested in being trained, check out their website www.casaforclermontkids.org or call 513-732-7160.

Next week there will be NO morning meeting. Instead, we will have our evening networking meeting at the Holiday Inn from 5:15-7:30pm. Our speaker will be Krissy Vinson who will share about the Down Syndrome Association & the Tri for Joe event.
